Graphic Literature</title><content type='html'>I think that  personally it is more unsettling to view images of lynchings and other racially motivated violence.  The visual media forces you to come to terms with the fact that these are people, actual individuals that you could speak with, or reach out and touch.  Where when you read about an act it always seems detached from the reality, even reading in a newspaper it is so far away that the individuals seem unreal, like fictional constructs.  Additonally the images always seem so much more powerful, they hit you with the sheer uncensored reality of it.   And as for poetry it really does nothing for me, I enjoy a well written poem a little less than the next guy, but I can appreciate them, even if the message totally eludes me.  Somewhere in there the power of the message is lost for me and again I am forced to look at the postcards for the full effect.  Another thing that adds to the message is that these postcards were sold!?! For people to admire I mean its rediculous, and sad but true.
